The garden is embraced by the summit of the mountain behind it and overlooks a vast horizon, opening views from south to west for many kilometers. The uppermost part, almost at the top of Mount San Michele, separates the Arno Valley from the valleys of the Greve and the Pesa, and is characterized by a valuable system of dry-stone walls.\u00a0The landscape of Lamole\u2019s dry-stone walls (a UNESCO World Heritage site) represents a masterpiece of land clearing that for centuries has defined the \u201cheroic agriculture\u201d of the tenacious Chianti farmers, who over time have improved this landscape, preserving it from hydrogeological erosion and developing mixed cultivation of vine, olive, iris, and arable crops.
